McCOOK Neb. – “Elf The Musical,” billed as “a heartwarming, joyful celebration of the holiday season that will delight audiences of all ages,” will be performed at the Fox Theater, Thursday through Sunday at the historic Fox Theater in McCook.

“Elf The Musical” is based on the 2003 New Line Cinema film. This adaptation brings the familiar story of Buddy the Elf to life with energetic performances, catchy songs, and plenty of holiday cheer.

In this production, Buddy, played by the talented Adam Powers, is a human raised by elves in the North Pole. He begins a journey to New York City to find his biological father. Powers shines in the role, capturing Buddy’s innocence and enthusiasm while delivering impressive vocal performances. His portrayal is charming and awkward, perfectly embodying the character’s spirit as he navigates the bustling city and tries to spread Christmas joy.

Buddy is faced with the harsh reality that his father, Walter Hobbs, played by Chris LaBay, has landed on the naughty list and that his stepbrother doesn’t even believe in Santa Claus; Buddy is determined to win over his new family and remind the city of the true meaning of Christmas.

Twelve-year-old Greyson Heskett plays Buddy’s younger brother, Michael; Amber Hopkins plays Emily Hobbs, Buddy’s Step-Mom; Larissa Heskett plays Jovie, Buddy Elf’s love interest. JeriLynn Karr is Deb; Christy Stevens is Greenway; Darcy Rambali is the Store Manager; and Russ Ankersen is a perfect Santa Claus. Other cast members include Ethan Poore as Chadwick, Bryce Osterman as Mathews, and an ensemble of 17 portraying various characters, such as colorful elves, customers, and fake Santas.

The production is brought to life under the skilled direction of Artistic and Music Director Charles Coleman, Assistant Director Tim Miller, and Assistant Music Director Kathy Latta. Their collaborative efforts ensure a seamless experience that captures the essence of the original film while infusing it with vibrant musical numbers and lively choreography.

Elf The Musical is a delightful treat with its simple storyline that allows families, especially children, to easily follow along and enjoy the magic that unfolds on stage. The musical numbers are infectious, and the colorful costumes and set design add to the festive atmosphere, immersing the audience in Buddy’s whimsical world.

As the characters grapple with themes of family, acceptance, and the true meaning of Christmas, the show resonates with heartfelt moments that will leave you smiling long after the curtain falls. With a few humorous twists and a lot of holiday spirit, Elf The Musical is perfect for a family outing this season.

This enchanting production is a must-see at the historic Fox Theatre. Tickets are available at Garrison’s or the box office before showtime.
