BROKEN BOW, Neb. - Earl Edward Raker, aged 65, passed away on Nov. 2, 2024, in Broken Bow, Neb. Born on July 31, 1959, in Albion, Neb., Earl grew up attending local schools and later attended North West Nebraska High School. He spent many years dedicated to his work at South West Feed and over a decade at Valmont with his brother Harvey. Earl joined Bonnie Curruth in marriage on July 2, 1983 and were married for ten years. Earl later joined Betty Raker (Hansen) in marriage on Feb. 3, 1993.
Earl was a man of many interests and talents. Known for his caring and outgoing personality, he was well known in the community and enjoyed knitting, hunting, fishing, playing cards, pool, and chess. Earl was a hard worker, admired for his resilience in battling cancer twice, a testament to his strength and perseverance.
He is survived by a loving family, including his sister Elaine Brannin (Robert) of Dana, Indiana; Helen Kaufman (Mark) of Grand Island, Neb.; brothers Harvey Raker (Nancy) of Hayes Center, Neb., and Larry Raker of Broken Bow, Neb.; sisters Edna Leon and Clara Robertson, both of Broken Bow, Neb.; three sons; three step-children; and multiple grandchildren and great-grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews.
Earl was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Raker (Hansen); his father, Harvey A. Raker; mother, Elleanora Lowry; both sets of grandparents; and a niece and nephew.
Earl’s life was a remarkable journey of love, resilience, and community involvement, leaving a lasting impact on everyone he met. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him. I
Services will be held on Saturday Nov. 9, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hayes Center Neb. Fairgrounds in the agriculture building.
