Nebraska Democrats issue statement after election

Wednesday, November 6, 2024

LINCOLN, Neb. - The Nebraska Democratic Party Chair Jane Kleeb issues the following statement regarding Nebraska’s General Election results:

“We are proud of the candidates that both won and those that did not make it over the finish line. This past election cycle has been grueling. Volunteers, party staff, and voters gave it their all to deliver the results we had all hoped for, which was finally sending a woman to the White House and Sen. Vargas to Congress.

We stand tall that we did deliver the blue dot for Kamala Harris and Tim Walz.

Our party has work to do. Clearly, the major issues that shape our party–including public schools, paid sick leave, and medical marijuana–voters are on our side. However, we acknowledge Republican party loyalty in partisan races is a hurdle that continues to be in front of us. We will continue to work on registering voters, being present in the community, and delivering results at the local level to build trust with voters in order to win at the Congressional and statewide level.”

The NDP would like to congratulate the following Democratic candidates who will represent the party in the Nebraska Legislature and multiple down-ballot positions that will impact our state for years to come. The list represents a strong and one of the most diverse slate of candidates we have seen in an election cycle.
