McCOOK, Neb. - Elmer T. Frick was surrounded by family when he passed away at the Grand Island VA Medical Center on Thursday, October 31, 2024. He was 82 years of age. Elmer was born on May 24, 1942, in McCook, Neb., to Harry and Lucille (Choate) Frick. He grew up in Culbertson, Neb. and graduated from Culbertson High School with the class of 1960. Elmer served his county with the Nebraska Army National Guard from 1964-1970.
On February 14, 1965, Elmer married the love of his life, LeAnn Fickle, in Culbertson. Elmer and LeAnn put roots down in McCook, living there together for almost 60 years. In his life, Elmer worked at Kuglers, Farmers Coop, Goodyear, Campers Sales and Service and Dayco in McCook. In addition to working full-time, he and LeAnn also went to many craft shows together and sold Kettle Corn.
Elmer was a member of the local Elks and Jaycee clubs. He also volunteered with 4-H and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and woodworking.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Lucille; father and mother-in-law, Charles and Ruth Ann Fickle; sister, Sharon Wagner; brother-in-law, Dale Fickle and nephew Michael Fickle.
He is survived by his wife, LeAnn of McCook; daughter, Kelly Fassler and fiancé, Jeff Westwood of Grand Island, Nebraska; grandchildren: Daniel Stephen Fassler of Culbertson, Kendall Jay Fassler of Platte Center, Nebraska and Kayson Blaine (JoAnna May) Fassler of Seward, Neb.; great-grandchild, Raith Udell Fassler of Culbertson; brothers-in-law, James Fickle, Charles Fickle and George Wagner; sister-in-law, Virginia Fickle; and nieces: Sheila Miller, Penny Johnson, Tammy Fickle, Stacey Ellington and Kristi Holly.
Cremation was chosen, and graveside services with full military honors are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2024, at the Culbertson Cemetery in Culbertson, Nebraska.
