Eastern Wyoming evens MCC men's early record at 1-1

TORRINGTON, Wyo. – The McCook Community College basketball had an off-night shooting the ball Saturday and fell short on the rebound ledger as Eastern Wyoming topped the Indians 70-58.

MCC made just 17 of 59 shots and were outrebounded 46-29.

The Lancers led 35-22 at halftime.

MCC shot just 28.8 percent from the floor, made only four of 20 shots from the arc (20 percent) and went 20-for-28 from the line (71.4 percent.) The Indians turned the ball over 13 times.

Sophomore Madison Peaster (Little Rock, Ark.) was the only Indian in double-figures with 26 points. He also topped the team in rebounds with nine, assists with four and steals with seven.

Tavarius Vinson (sophomore, Chicago, Ill.) scored seven points with four rebounds. Louie Tucker (sophomore, Bristol, United Kingdom) scored six points with four boards.

Sophomore Norris Bourne Jr. (Beaumont, Texas) and Da'Shawn Hall-Johnson (freshman, Bridgeport, Conn.) both chipped in six points off the bench.

Eastern Wyoming shot 40.3 from the field, 40.9 percent from the 3-point line and made 11 of 13 free throws (84.6 percent. The Lancers had 21 turnovers.

Both teams go to 1-1 on the season.

MCC’s next game is the home-opener Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. against No. 19 Garden City Community College.
