Nebraska’s Secretary of State projects 72% voter turnout

Monday, November 4, 2024

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Secretary of State Bob Evnen forecasts a 72% voter turnout for the 2024 General Election, based on early voting numbers and past turnout trends. County election offices have been actively assisting early voters while implementing the state’s new voter ID requirement, which Evnen expects will continue smoothly on Election Day.

Key voting deadlines:

Monday, Nov. 4: Last day for in-person early voting at county election offices.

Tuesday, Nov. 5: Last day to return early ballots to county offices by 8 p.m. Central (7 p.m. Mountain).

Voters should avoid mailing ballots at this stage and use secure drop boxes instead.

So far, 332,455 Nebraskans have already cast ballots: 72,049 in person and 260,406 by mail. With 1.26 million registered voters, polling sites will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Central on Election Day, and voters can find their polling places on VoterCheck.

Voters should bring a valid photo ID, such as a Nebraska driver’s license, U.S. passport, or Nebraska college ID. Educational materials on voter ID are available in English and Spanish at voterID.nebraska.gov.
