Omaha woman arrested following pursuit
LINCOLN, Neb.— Nebraska State Patrol troopers arrested Sevelia Cook, 41, of Omaha, after a vehicle pursuit through Lancaster County Wednesday morning, which ended in Lincoln.
The incident began around 10:25 a.m. when the Cass County Sheriff’s Office reported a vehicle driving recklessly and against traffic on multiple roads in western Cass County. Deputies briefly pursued the vehicle but lost sight of it.
Shortly before 11 a.m., the Nebraska State Patrol (NSP) received reports of a disturbance at a gas station in Waverly involving a person matching the suspect's description. A trooper soon located the vehicle, a Subaru Legacy, heading westbound on Highway 6 toward Lincoln.
When the trooper attempted a traffic stop, the driver refused to pull over, prompting NSP to initiate a pursuit. After the vehicle exited onto N. Cotner Boulevard in Lincoln, a trooper conducted a tactical vehicle intervention, safely stopping the Subaru before it entered residential areas.
Cook was taken into custody without incident. Troopers found approximately 24 grams of suspected methamphetamine in the vehicle. She was arrested on multiple charges, including driving under the influence of drugs, flight to avoid arrest, possession of a controlled substance, and driving under suspension. Cook was booked into the Lancaster County Jail.
