Three arrested with 38 pounds of meth

Thirdy-eight pounds of suspected methamphetamine was seized from a car carrying three adults and two children which was stopped by the Nebraska State Patrol near Hershey.

NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Troopers with the Nebraska State Patrol have arrested three people after locating 38 pounds of suspected methamphetamine during an encounter at a gas station near Hershey.

Saturday at approximately 4:40 p.m., a trooper was getting gas at a truck stop on Interstate 80 at the Hershey interchange when he encountered the occupants of a Jeep Grand Cherokee. The Jeep had five occupants, including three adults and two small children. During that contact, the trooper became suspicious of criminal activity.

A search of the vehicle revealed numerous packages of suspected methamphetamine concealed inside a large subwoofer box. The total weight of the methamphetamine was 38 pounds.

The three adults, identified as Andres Florentino-Fortunato, 29, Armando Arroyo, 47, and Daniela Torres-Hernandez, 23, all of Mexico, were all arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession with intent to deliver a hazardous drug, and intentional child abuse – no injury. All three were lodged in Lincoln County Jail. The two children were placed in protective care.
