Roughriders rout Paxton, Trojan season ends in playoffs

BARTLEY, Neb. — Quarterback Houston Billeter completed 15 of 19 passes with three touchdowns in Southwest’s 31-6 victory over Paxton Thursday night.

The Roughriders capped a 5-3 regular season as sophomore Deric Kelley caught seven for 107 yards including one score.

Senior Trenton Williams took another pass to the end zone among his five receptions gaining 40 yards. Williams also rushed 10 times for a team-high 49.

Damario Koetter caught a 10-yard strike for Billeter’s third TD pass. Billeter ran to another score in a dominant Southwest performance leading into Six-Man state playoffs starting next week.

An official first-round opponent had not been announced at press time.

Billeter and Williams both made nine total tackles to lead Southwest’s defense.

Williams joined Kelley in delivering five solo tackles each.

Sophomore Jacob Barber added eight tackles, four being solos.

Trojans stopped in playoffs

O’NEILL, Neb. — St. Mary’s finished the Cambridge football season with a 52-12 win in Thursday’s Class D-1 state playoff opener.

The Trojans finished 4-5 overall. No other details were obtained before today’s press deadline.
