(McCOOK, Neb.) — Weather permitting, work will begin Nov. 4 on the bridge project located west of McCook and east of Perry Grain on US-6. The work will start on the bridge located at reference post 82.59 on US-6, one mile west of McCook.

Work on the bridge located at reference post 81.21 on US-6, two miles west of McCook, is anticipated to start early spring of 2025, according to the Nebraska Department of Transportation. Simons Contractors Inc. of North Platte is the contractor for this project. Work includes bridge reconstruction, box culvert construction, grading, concrete paving, earth shoulder construction, and seeding.

Traffic will be maintained with lane restrictions, temporary traffic signals for bridge work, and flaggers with a pilot car. Traffic will be reduced to one 13-foot-wide lane to cross the bridge during construction. A width restriction will be in effect. Anticipated completion is July 2025. Motorists are reminded to drive cautiously in and near work zones, to buckle up, and to put phones down.
