MOODY, Tex. - Rhonda L. (Hartman) Pierce Marley, 82, of Moody, Texas, passed away on Aug. 14, 2024, at her home in Moody. There was no inurnment, but there will be a Celebration of Life in April in Moody, Tex.
Rhonda Lorraine Marley was born on Feb. 21, 1942, in Paxton, Neb. to Leo George and Mary Ellen (Fisher) Hartman. She grew up in Danbury, Neb. working for the family business, Hartman Telephone Exchange. She attended school in Danbury and graduated in the first combined school class of Beaver Valley (Lebanon and Danbury) in Lebanon in 1959. After graduation, she continued her education at Barnes School of Commerce in Denver, Colo. While attending school, Rhonda met her first love, Weldon LaVon Pierce. They were married on March 11, 1961, in Danbury and were married for 21 years. They had their first home together in Denver, Colo. They moved to Bitburg, Germany where LaVon was stationed in the United States Air Force. They had two children while there and then moved to Wichita, Kan. They had one more child while in Wichita before moving to Arnold, Neb. They had two more children while living in Arnold before moving to Groesbeck, Tex. to be closer to LaVon’s family. After several years, they moved closer to Rhonda’s family in Marion, Neb. LaVon and Rhonda eventually moved back to Mexia, Tex. Rhonda worked at Cargill Meat Solutions as a cost accountant and then for Scott Pierce Plumbing Company as their accountant. Rhonda met Johnny Afton Marley, Jr. and they were married on Jan. 24, 1992. They were happily married for 32 years.
Rhonda was a member of the Living Church of God in Temple, Tex.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Marley, Jr.; son, Lonnie (Lori) Pierce of Grand Junction, Colo.; son, Dana (Vicki) Pierce of Moody, Tex.; daughter, Tanya (Laren) Roper of McCook, Neb.; daughter, Chandele Martinez Pierce of Mexia, Tex.; son, William Scott (Brooke) Pierce of Troy, Tex.; stepson, John (Carrie) Marley III of Moody, Tex.; 20 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was proceeded in death by her parents, brother, Duane Hartman and sister, Karen Hartman Hunter.
