Ballpark land annexation on council agenda
McCOOK, Neb. — At the McCook City Council’s regular meeting Monday, key agenda items include a public hearing on the voluntary annexation of land for sports fields, homes, and businesses, located on the northwest edge of McCook in Red Willow County.
The council, meeting at 5:30 p.m. in the council chambers at the city municipal building, West Firth and C, is expected to suspend the rules and finalize Resolution No. 2024-28, approving the “Walters Multi-Use Redevelopment Project” for this area.
Other business includes approving an Interlocal Cooperation Agreement with the Red Willow County Sheriff’s Office and authorizing the mayor to sign.
The council will also consider a request from the McCook Area Chamber of Commerce to use city facilities for a Christmas celebration on Dec. 7, including the flying in of Santa Claus at the McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport and a parade in downtown McCook.
The council will review a property damage claim, approve fiber optic projects by Great Plains Communications, and authorize city staff to submit a Municipal Infrastructure Aid Program Grant.
The meeting will also feature the ratification of Terry Peterson’s reappointment to the Housing Agency Board and recognition of a McCook Community Foundation Fund grant to make the McCook Aquatic Park free for the public during its opening summer.
Additionally, the council will discuss nuisance abatement and the property at 1107 West 4th Street.
And, an executive session is on the agenda in regard to property at 1111 East H Street owned by Cindy and Ron Sabin.
