McCOOK, Neb. – In a recent board meeting and retreat, the McCook Chamber of Commerce celebrated the addition of three new businesses and outlined an exciting roster of upcoming events to engage the community as the holiday season approaches.

New members joining the chamber last month include Generation V, Matt and Shelly Sard, along with the Women’s Auxiliary Group and the Fraternal Order of Eagles, which renewed its membership.

The chamber is poised for a busy season filled with retail promotions and festive activities.

One highlight of the upcoming season is the anticipated Noel Norris celebration on December 7, featuring carriage rides and a parade, along with festivities in the park starting at 3 p.m.

On Dec. 15, families can enjoy a free movie screening at the Fox Theater and complimentary train rides from 1 to 5 p.m.

In addition to these events, the high school science club will offer gift-wrapping services at the museum as a fundraiser, contributing to the community’s holiday spirit.

Looking ahead, the chamber has scheduled several mixers and open houses, including an open house Tuesday Oct. 22 at the Knights of Columbus Hall at 5 p.m., and another mixer at Charter West on November 6 at 5:30 PM.

The planning for next year’s Heritage Days event has also begun, with a tentative date set for Sept. 20, 2025. Familiar favorites such as the Wiener Dog Races, Free Throw Contest, and Cute Baby Contest will return, along with the Oktoberfest Celebration with Polka Band set in the evening.

In their efforts to support the senior demographic of the community, the chamber launched a new resource tab on its website providing information on transportation, healthcare needs, and other services, ensuring that seniors have access to necessary resources.

Lastly, the Chamber discussed adjustments to membership classifications, aiming to simplify the process for smaller businesses and nonprofits.
