Haigler Fall Tumbleweed Festival slated for Saturday
HAIGLER, Neb. — Excitement is building for the 17th annual Haigler Fall Tumbleweed Festival, set for this Saturday, October 19, at the Haigler Museum grounds. The event promises a full day of family fun, beginning at noon MDT, with free admission for all attendees. Rain or shine, the festival will go on, offering a wide range of activities, delicious food, and entertainment for visitors of all ages.
One of the highlights of the festival is the decorated tumbleweed display, where participants can showcase their creativity. Cash prizes will be awarded for the best entries. Festival-goers can also explore Haigler’s rich history with all the town’s museums open for tours, including the Jail Museum, which features many new exhibits.
The event will be a foodie’s delight, with Piglee Wiglee BBQ serving up their signature barbecue, alongside Cajun pork, veggie meatballs, and boudin at the food tents. The Village Children’s Activity Center will offer fair-style lemonade and mini sourdough boules, while the Haigler Golden Inn Senior Center will tempt guests with homemade pie and ice cream.
This year’s festival is introducing Mozos Pixels, a large mobile arcade bus loaded with games and activities. Visitors can also browse the craft tents, enjoy jams, jellies, and baked goods, participate in treasure hunts, pumpkin decorating, gunny sack races, cornhole, and more. A silent auction will offer a chance to win a Halloween inflatable decoration.
Music from Jimmy Ortega & friends will fill the air, adding to the festive atmosphere. Children and the young at heart are encouraged to don their Halloween costumes for the Spook Parade, starting at 2:30 p.m. in front of the Country Schoolhouse Museum.
The community invites everyone to come out and enjoy this year’s Tumbleweed Festival, a beloved tradition in Haigler that guarantees a fun-filled day for all.
