LINCOLN, Neb. — With the Huskers set to play at Memorial Stadium this Saturday, the Nebraska State Patrol is advising fans to prepare for heavy traffic and scorching temperatures. Troopers will be in full force, including assistance from the NSP AirWing, to ensure safe travel to and from the game.

Fans are encouraged to anticipate traffic congestion as they approach downtown Lincoln and to monitor Nebraska 511 for updates on construction zones and detours. Trooper Brett will also provide traffic reports on the Huskers Radio Network before and after the game.

NSP is partnering with multiple agencies—including the Lincoln Police Department, Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office, UNL Police, and the Nebraska Department of Transportation—to maintain safety on the roads and within Memorial Stadium. Inside the stadium, fans needing assistance can text UNLPD at 402-472-0800 or seek help from troopers, officers, or event staff on-site.

With temperatures expected to reach the 90s at kickoff, NSP urges fans to stay hydrated and watch for signs of heat-related illnesses among fellow attendees.

In addition to gameday preparations, NSP reports that during the first four home games, troopers made 35 DUI arrests. Fans are reminded constantly to have a sober driver. For non-emergency roadside assistance or to report reckless driving, motorists can contact the NSP Highway Helpline by dialing *55.

This gameday safety effort is partly supported by a Nebraska Department of Transportation – Highway Safety Office grant.
