McCook spikers rally for Saturday win; host two tonight
HOLDREGE, Neb. — The McCook High volleyball team scored a 2-1 win over Grand Island Central Catholic to salvage Saturday’s Holdrege Invitational experience.
Coach Trevor Hoins’ Bison earlier lost 2-0 to host Holdrege and a 2-1 match with Maywood-Hayes Center.
He offered these insights:
“Played first round against Holdrege and had a lead in the first set and was unable to finish the second half of the set.
We then played Maywood-Hayes Center. We dropped the game to them in three. Never got in a groove hitting wise versus them.
We were able to finish the tournament with a win vs. Grand Island Central Catholic. It took three, but we were able to battle to a 26-24 second set win and then won the 3rd set 25 - 21.”
