HERSHEY, Neb. — McCook High overpowered the Hershey Pathers in four sets with sophomore Cali Crawford crushing 14 kills.

Senior Ashlyn Randel and junior Jaylea Walgren each clobbered eight during this 25-10, 22-25, 25-12, 25-19 victory.

The Bison are nearly beraking even this season at 6-7 after their fifth win since early last week.

They also consuered both the JV and reseve matches with Hershey.

Coach Trevor Hoins provided these insights:

“We came out swinging vs Hershey last night and had a good first set.

In the second set we got down, but were able to gain back some momentum in it even though we dropped the set.

In the third and fourth set we had control throughout the sets.

We got leads early in those sets and never looked back after getting those leads.

All of the girls played very well. Cali Crawford led us in kills with 14 and she also had four blocks.

Jaylea Walgren and Ashlyn Randel both had eight kills. Both were effective from the service line as well.

Junior Bailee Foster played really well in the back row.

Senior Bailee Fawver had some really good runs from the service line.

JuniorKarstyn Porter set very well and also had some good runs from the service line.

Finally, junior Abby Renner and sophomore Morgan Griffin got a lot of good touches at the net.”

The Bison will play next at Saturday’s Holdrege Invitational where they’ll face some familiar traditional McCook rivals like those Dusters.

Opening matches are set to begin at 9 a.m. Watch for results first on mccookgazette.com.
