McCook girls win 19-zip to cap regular-season home games

McCOOK, Neb. — All nine McCook seniors scored runs while nine Yuma County, Colo., batters each got only one plate appearance during a 19-0 Bison softball victory Thursday night.

Seniors Briley Morgan and Danika Havlicek teamed to strike out seven of those nine visitors.

Meanwhile, eight Bison batted in runs to with 15 hits from seven different batters in an almost perfect regular-season home finale.

The Bison raised their record to 17-5 overall, already surpassing last year’s win total.

Seniors Brooklynn Gillen, Sydney Hodgson, Malia Hilker and Gillen drilled doubles past the visitors to go with senior Dani Johnson’s triple.

A rundown of other Bison offensive highlights Thursday night:

Hilker four RBI on two hits, one run scored;

Gillen was three-for-three, scored three and added one RBI;

Paige Bortner two hits, thre runs and an RBI;

Roslyn Wiemers two-for-two, a run, and two RBI;

Morgan two hits, a run and two RBI;

Hodgson two hits, two runs and an RBI;

Johnson triple, two runs, RBI;

Havlicek a hit, two runs;

Lacyn Keller two runs.

Morgan struck out two during her two innings for another win. It follows another no-hitter pitched last weekend.

Havlicek struck out all three batters faced during Thursday’s final frame.
