Bison volleyball win total going up-up-up this week

McCOOK, Neb. — McCook’s volleyball girls tripled their win total in two days with three wins over four Kansas varsity foes this week.

The Bison swept Cheylin 25-5, 25-21; and took a three-setter from Goodland on those Cowgirls’ home court Tuesday evening.

On Thursday back home, the Bison lost to a strong Colby team yet rebounded for an excellent 2-1 victory over traditionally tough Hoxie.

“We have seven matches this week, so why not win as many as we can?” coach Trevor Hoins said about his team improving to 4-5 overall this season.

The Bison will play a guaranteed three home matches in Saturday’s annual Bison Invitational at McCook High and McCook Junior High.

They’ll start against Valentine at 11 a.m. on Saturday.

Hoins was pleased how his team responded following the loss to Colby.

The Bison dropped their next set but took two over Hoxie as junior Karstyn Porter and senoir Ashlyn Randel teamed to send out 30 assists.

Junior Jaylea Walgren smashed across her second double-digit kill total of the week. She crushed 10 vs. Hoxie after 11 vs. Goodland.
