STRATTON, Neb. - Robert Keith Brennan, known to many as “Bob,” was born on Nov. 5, 1951, in Brush, Colo. to John and Anna Mae (Randall) Brennan. Bob passed away on Sept. 17, 2024, in Kearney, Neb. Bob’s journey was one of relentless dedication and a passion for fishing and hunting that many will remember fondly.

From his formative years in Stratton, where he graduated from Stratton High School in 1970, Bob developed a character molded by hard work and traditional values. In his earlier days, he embraced the rugged life of truck driving and construction. Bob later lent his work ethic to Midlands Construction, though the call of the open road eventually led him back to owning his truck.

Life for Bob was not only about work; it thrived in the richness of familial bonds and friendships. His beloved wife, Linda Rains, whom he met in high school and the two were later married at St. Joseph Catholic Church on March 11, 1972. Linda stood by him as a partner in every sense of the word. Together they nurtured a family that filled their lives with abundant love and laughter. Bob cherished every moment spent with his children, creating lasting memories that will linger in the hearts of the entire family.

Bob’s passions were woven deeply into the fabric of his life. He found joy in the wilderness, hunting and fishing, pursuits that allowed him to share his knowledge and love for nature. His heart soared with pride as he watched his grandchildren grow and shared with him the love of hunting and fishing. As a devoted leader in 4-H, he focused on shooting sports, guiding young minds into the beauty of the great outdoors and securing a sense of safety when it came to handling firearms. His commitment to the community didn’t stop there; he was actively involved in the Stratton Boy Scouts and served dutifully as Chief of the Stratton Volunteer Fire Department for several years, embodying the spirit of service that so many admired.

He had a special bond with his horse, Jack, and his favorite dog, A.J., companions that accompanied him through life’s ups and downs. Bob’s personality shone brightly with a sense of humor that endeared him to many. His laughter will echo in the hearts of those who had the pleasure of knowing him, a reminder of the warmth he brought into their lives.

Bob is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Linda; his daughters, Jody (Adam) Parsons and Laci (Tommy) Glatfelter; his son, Clint (Dana); grandchildren, Caleb, Corey, Samantha, Emma, Parker, Ella, Hudson, and Huntley; brothers, Buck, Paul and Frank; and his sisters, Carol Hanes and Mary Brennan. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Bill, Joe, Jake and Kenny.

A private family graveside inurnment will be held at a later date.
