GOTHENBURG, Neb. - Pamela “Pam” Sue Glodowski, a loving mother, wife, and dedicated guidance counselor passed away in Gothenburg Hospital on Sept. 15, 2024.

Born on July 15, 1960 in Gothenburg, Neb., Pam lived her life through the love of family and friends.

As a young girl, she was a dedicated member of a farming family. The youngest child and only girl in a family of boys, “Susie” as her father Keith affectionately called her, quickly learned to be rough and tumble but still kept her tender heart. Her love for the land and livestock was highlighted by horseback rides with her brothers and cooking with her mother. Pam was inseparable from her mother and best friend Lea. They enjoyed countless hours of conversation while walking or working together.

She attended Orafino, Neb. elementary until 2nd grade, where after she attended school at Farnam, Neb. until she graduated in 1978.

After graduation, she attended Kearney State College in Kearney, Neb. majoring in business for two years until transferring to NCTA in Curtis, Neb. in 1980 where she received a degree in Horticulture.

Her love found a match when she met Jim while attending in Spring 1981. The two’s love flourished and they were married on Sept. 10, 1983. Always wanting to be a mother, Pam was excited to gift Jim with their first boy, Kelsey in the spring of 1984. Her motherly tradition continued with two more boys with the birth of Logan in Summer 1989, and Lucas in Spring 1993.

Throughout her years of motherhood, Pam continued to pursue her love of knowledge. She became a guidance counselor at Farnam School in 1992. She earned her Masters degree at the University of Nebraska Kearney in School Counseling in 1996. Pam continued to work at Eustis-Farnam as a counselor until becoming the Middle-School Counselor at Gothenburg Public School in 2009.

Her years in the school system were marked with a positive attitude, laughter, and mindful wisdom, influencing students throughout the years with their warm interactions. Pam inspired a positive spontaneity. Whether through a funny prank, or a well intended scare, it always resulted in hugs and laughter. Pam always encouraged individuals to live life to the fullest every day.

Pam was an avid gardener. Her summers were spent tending to her garden utilizing the garden produce to cook wonderful meals for her family. She had a great love for the outdoors; whether going for her daily walks, or catching catfish at the Medicine Creek, Pam had a deep-seated connection to the land.

In Spring of 2024, Pam was diagnosed with cancer. Pam, not to be one to give up easily, took on the battle with all her spirit and faith in Christ. She maintained a positive attitude in the face of fear and refused to be broken. During this time, she retired from Gothenburg Public School to be home with her family, always the strongest love of her life. Throughout the year, her family created wonderful memories and beautiful moments with her.

She is survived by her husband, Jim Glodowski, and their sons: Kelsey and his wife Jessica Glodowski of McCook; Logan Glodowski of Kearney and Lucas Glodowski of Farnam; very special grandson Audie Glodowski of McCook; her brothers Mike and his wife Beth Messersmith of Gothenburg and Pat and his wife Sandra Messersmith of Maywood; sister-in-law Teresa Messersmith of Gothenburg; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as friends and former students. Her legacy is carried on in the form of memories, positive attitudes, and a powerful love of life.

Pam is preceded in death by her parents Keith and Leora (Knoll) Messersmith, and her oldest brother, Garold Messersmith.

Pam’s absence will be felt by all whom she touched with her positive energy and love. Her commitment to family, friendship, and community, will always serve as a beautiful example of a life lived to the fullest, creating a legacy that will always be remembered by all whom she touched.

Visitation will be held, Friday, Sept. 20, 2024 1:00 - 7:00 p.m. at Blase-Strauser Memorial Chapel, Gothenburg, Neb.; with the family present from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m.

Services will be held, Saturday, Sept. 21, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Farnam Methodist Church, with Pastor Elmo Hermann officiating.

Interment will follow in the Farnam Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to the Farnam Fire Department or to the family for a scholarship to be established in Pam’s memory.
