Windy night

Beth O'Dea enlisted her son and friends to clean up after a large, apparently healthy tree blew over Tuesday night. McCook Ben Nelson Regional Airport's automated weather observation has been offline for quite some time, so there's no official word on the speed of the wind, but gusts of nearly 50 mph were recorded at Imperial and North Platte. O'Dea's tree on Norris Avenue was only one example of damage overnight around the area. The National Weather Service says the problem with automated weather observation report lies with the Federal Aviation Administration.
