Among the 10 honorees is Cambridge, Neb., native Dr. Jill M. Murray

WAYNE, Neb. – The Wayne State College Foundation has announced the recipients of its first-ever 10 Under 10 Young Alumni Awards, an accolade recognizing young alumni who are making significant contributions in their professions and communities. The awards will be presented during Wayne State's Homecoming week on Friday, Oct. 4.

“These awards celebrate the remarkable achievements of Wayne State alumni who are already shaping the future with their contributions,” said Amber Sperry, director of alumni relations for the Wayne State Foundation. “We look forward to recognizing more young leaders in the future, just as we do with our Outstanding Alumni Awards.”

Among the 10 honorees is Cambridge, Neb., native Dr. Jill M. Murray, a 2014 graduate of Wayne State College, now a family medicine physician in Carroll, Iowa. Dr. Murray has been practicing in Carroll for the past three years, where she resides with her husband, Trace, and their daughter, Loretta, born in November 2023.

After her time at Wayne State, Murray attended Des Moines University, completing her medical degree and a family medicine residency in Rapid City, S.D. She has since returned to Iowa, where she plays an active role in both her medical practice and community. Murray’s areas of expertise include preventative medicine, geriatrics, hospice, and pediatrics.

In addition to her medical work, Dr. Murray co-founded the Shelves of Grace, a food and resource pantry for hospital patients, and serves as co-chair of St. Anthony’s hospital gala, which raised over $350,000 in its first year. She also holds several leadership roles, including Vice Chief of Staff at St. Anthony Hospital, Medical Director for the St. Anthony Nursing Home, and board member of the Carroll Library Foundation.

The 10 Under 10 Young Alumni Awards highlight emerging leaders who embody Wayne State’s values and positively impact their communities both locally and globally.
