Bison ready for Dusters tonight after Indians' sweep

Thursday, September 12, 2024

McCOOK, Neb. — Except for a first-set serving from Ogallala’s Alex Ervin, McCook coach Trevor Hoins believed his Bison played those Indians almost evenly Tuesday evening.

“I don’t care what team in the conference faced her, she was (Ervin) going to be tough to handle serving like that,” he said following the 25-12, 25-23, 25-23 Ogallala victory.

“If we do see them again around conference time, we would be excited about that chance,” Hoins added. “I told the girls we will be a different team by then. Just stick to the process — that’s our motto.”

The Bison (1-3 record) took several leads through those next two sets as senior Anna Hock delivered some power with three kills.

Junior Bailee Foster blasted six while junior Karstyn Porter and senior Ashlyn Randel teamed to deliver 15 assists.

McCook fought off match point in set three. The Bison closed within 24-23 until their own serving error ended this comeback.

The Bison JV girls did deliver a big win over those visiting Indians.

McCook plays at home again tonight when the Holdrege Dusters visit. Varsity action should begin around 7 p.m.
