Arapahoe sweeps triangular with DC-S, Hitchcock

BENKELMAN, Neb. — Arapahoe overcame a sizable second-set deficit and rallied to beat Hitchcock County 25-20, 26-24 which finished the Warriors’ sweep of Thursday’s Dundy County-Stratton Triangular.

Sophomore Desi Farner’s 10 kills with 10 digs powered Arapahoe’s third win in four matches so far this season.

The Warriors needed every clutch point since Hitchcock held an 18-13 lead deep into set two.

Yet junior Emma Strand smashed another eight killer shots while sophomore Clara Hilker clubbed six.

Hilker also served three aces to help keep the Falcons off-balance.

Strand mixed in an Arapahoe-best 15 digs to help withstand attacks from Hitchcock hitters like juniors Asia Homma, Riley Hagan, Kaiah Johnson and Reece Tines.

Arapahoe sophomore Grace Andrews delivered a team-high 15 assists.

The Warriors earlier delivered a 25-22, 25-15 victory over host Dundy County-Stratton.

A super serving attack featured 10 aces. Andrews, Hilker and Strand served three aces apiece while Farner added one.

Farner’s eight kills topped the hitting attack again though Hilker and Strand equally divided another 10 shots past Tiger defenders.

Senior Rylee Bahe smartly quarterbacked the Warriors as she set up 11 assists for their best hitters.

Andrews assisted on another seven Warrior successful kills.

Arapahoe featured eight players working together for 31 digs.

Senior Sage Larson’s seven digs were the team best. Farmer and Bahe were next with five apiece.

Andrews and Strand both hustled to four digs.

DC-S brought momentum following a 2-0 victory over the Hampton Hawks on Saturday.

Junior Clara Spargo peppered that floor with six kills. Sophomore Emily Schack and freshman Abi Spargo each sprayed three lethal shots past those Hawks.

Schack served three aces and Clara Spargo two.

Abi Spargo was truly a freshman force at the net where she made four stuff blocks vs. Hampton.

Unfortunately, no individual stats were obtained for DC-S or Hitchcock County from Thursday’s triangular in Benkelman.
