LINCOLN, Neb. — The McCook Rebels are now 22-8 following a strong 4-2 Class B state tournament which earned fourth overall last weekend.

“Most of the teams were from Omaha and Lincoln areas, so we competed well,” Rebels coaches remarked about their 18-and-under team. “Pretty proud of our girls.”

Quick recaps from each ‘B’ Rebels state game:

Rebels 6,

Shock. Prime 4

The Rebels started state with a 6-0 lead as Roslyn Wiemers ripped an RBI-double and Dani Johnson singled home two runs.

Lacyn Keller added a three-for-three hitting performance, which might prompt some to retire with cool drinks all weekend and savor her 1.000 state batting average. She scored two more Rebel runs.

Briley Morgan pitched all five innings where she struck out eight and only surrendered three Shockwave hits.

Nebraska Vortex 5,

Rebels 4

Vortex escaped despite four defensive errors compared to no official Rebel flounders Saturday morning.

Bailee Fawver’s two hits and two RBI helped McCook build a 3-1 lead.

Brooklynn Gillen drilled a double while Sydney Hodgson, Danika Havlicek and Morgan singled. All four of these Rebels scored one run.

Havlicek pitched the three innings, permitting five Vortex hits.

Rebels 3,

Nebraska Quakes 0

They conquered Quakes to go with Shockwaves thanks to Morgan hurling 4 1/3 no-hit innings Saturday.

Johnson remained super clutch by smacking another early RBI-hit. Both Morgan and Johnson scored runs while Fawver delivered her second two-for-two hitting performance.

Rebels 7,

Nebraska Stealth 6

There was nothing quiet about a Sunday morning walk-off win over Nebraska Stealth-Woolhiser.

Guess what? It was Dani Johnson again who delivered the game-winning hit with that final Rebel swing.

The Rebels again built a 4-1 lead only to see those Stealth rally.

Brooklynn Gillen blasted a triple before Keller, Wiemers and Paige Bortner all singled.

All four again worked their way around to huge Rebel scores.

McCook totaled 11 hits through this contest. Havlicek went two-for-two and also walked one.

Wiemers and Bortner both batted in two runs during their double-hit performances.

Gillen added a triple to her single which set up her two runs.

Morgan earned another win, overcoming 11 walks and fanning seven.

Neb. Venom 6,

Rebels 1

Fawver was two-for-two again, driving in the lone Reebls run that Sydney Hodgson scored.

Rebels 6,

Vortex 5

The Rebels secured Class B No. 4 behind Gillen, Keller, Wiemers and Johnson’s two hits each. Keller plated three RBIs.
