McCOOK, Neb. — The Cappel Sales Rockies took a 3-0 lead then literally answered every Deveny Motors Mets rally during Thursday’s super 9-7 Felling Field league title game.

When Met Roman Jobe Bales tripled home the Mets’ first two runs, Rockies responded with Trentin Rouselle’s two-RBI single to make it 5-2.

Cooper Rupp rocked a two-RBI triple for the Mets as Case Deveny and Liam Spencer both scored.

Even better for a big Mets fan “club” was Rupp scoring on errant pitch for a 5-5 tie.

Yet sure enough, Rockie Axton Guthrie walked just in front of Cooper Crone’s tie-breaking double.

Greyson Heskett delivered an even larger Rockies crush on a sizzling shot over the Mets left fielder.

The Cappel Sales Rockies and Deveny Sales Mets traded momentum faster than most fans could find their car keys in six super innings. Mets aggressively took bases like third (above) despite an intense tag attempt from Rockies pitcher Erik Garcia. Rockie Greyson Heskett (below) celebrated doubles turning into little league home runs. The Rockies soon enjoyed that traditional “slide into home” celebration (bottom photo) where Reiman White made a smooth crossing of home plate that even Dickes appears to appreciate (bottom photo).

Not only did Cron score, but Heskett worked his way around all the bases for an 8-5 Rockies advantage.

The Mets made one more strong push beginning with Trevor Anderson and Aiden Peterson patiently drawing walks.

Though the Rockies picked one runner off base, Ashton Reed ripped another double to set up Bales’ two-RBI single.

Oh my, the Mets were only down 8-7 and still had three outs remaining.

The Rockies again responded like champions, plating a huge insurance run on Landon Dickes’ steal of home.

Dickes had taken an inside pitch “for the team” off his arm, then shook off all pain and pushed to third base after Rousselle delivered another single.

Moments later, he made the huge steal of home for a 9-7 Rockies cushion.

Case Deveny still doubled to put the Mets’ potential tying runner at bat only to pitcher Erik Garcia strike out that next patter. Heskett relieved due to pitch count and retired that final Mets’ threat on a ground ball.

The entire Cappel Sales Rockies champion lineup featured Gresyon Heskett, Reiman White, Erik Garcia, Landon Dickes, Trentin Rousselle, Jordan Jenkins, Axton Guthrie, Cooper Crone, Cole Pilgrim and Kade Saf (all names obtained from an official game lineup sheet).
