Seniors ready for Imperial rematch, aim at new win streak

Tuesday, June 18, 2024

McCOOK, Neb. —McCook’s eight-run win over Imperial two weeks ago topped a super eight-day stretch where the Seniors scored five victories in six contests.

Sadly, the Seniors have lost five straight since — so they’ll aim for a similar momentum tonight as those same talented Imperial Seniors visit for an 8 p.m. game.

MNB fell to 8-10 overall during a not fun Sunday trip to Broken Bow.

Host Bow Post 126 unleashed 18 hits against three McCook pitchers during a 17-9 win.

The 3-4-5 Bow batters teamed for 10 RBI on seven hits in 10 official at-bats.

A real crazy fact is MNB built an early 5-0 lead.

A four-run third inning ignited the quick McCook start.

Tristan Campbell reached on fielding error before Bryson Gullion and Gabe Roberts both worked walks to load the bases.

Quentin Terry’s fly ball sent courtesy runner Miles Pollmann home with run. Pollmann was running for catcher Campbell.

Trey Tiller soon singled in Gullion and another Bow free pass sent runner Trent Raile across home plate to make it 4-0 MNB.

Noah Mashek’s bases-loaded RBI walk scored Tiller with that fifth McCook tally.

However, Bow soon plated 10 runs during its next two at-bats to flip moment.

The hosts really never looked back while outhitting MNB, 18-7.

The Seniors did deliver another four runs during their fifth frame.

Oliver Corbett and Roberts would both drive in two runs.

Yet just when the Seniors closed within 10-9, Bow plated another seven runs to finish this Sunday scorefest.

Brody Graham took the loss while Roberts and Espn Hall also worked on the mound for MNB.

Gullion was the one Senior to total two hits. Corbett’s double was the only MNB hit for extra bases.

The McCook First Central Bank Juniors also dropped a 5-4 contest at Bow on Sunday.

They are now 8-4 and will host Imperial in today’s first game at the Jaycees Complex.

First pitch is set for 5:3o p.m.

Imperial’s Pinnacle Bank Seniors bring an 8-6 record into tonight’s contest following a season where they hosted the state tournament and finished among Class C’s top four teams.

They dropped a 10-2 decision to visiting MNB in Imperial on June 4.

MNB will continue the week at Gothenburg Thursday evening in a rematch against those rival Melons.
