Sports Complex property purchase on Monday agenda
McCOOK Neb. - A swimming pool update is expected, and long-awaited action will be taken regarding the Sports Complex at the upcoming McCook City Council Meeting. There will be a Public Hearing regarding a real estate purchase of property owned by John D. Walters, north of Q Street in northwest McCook.
Consent Agenda:
• Approve an application from Viaero Fiber Networks, LLC, to occupy the city right-of-way to install underground fiber optic infrastructure at the Keystone Business Center.
• Ratify the Mayor’s reappointments of Doug Skiles and Mike Kugler to the Airport Advisory Commission with terms expiring in November 2027 and Sean Wolfe and Sarah Renner to the Economic Development Plan Citizen’s Advisory Review Committee with terms expiring in July 2027.
• Appoint Lance Gillen, Tom Bredvick, and Linda Taylor to the McCook Community Recreation Facilities Committee by the Interlocal Cooperation Agreement between the City of McCook and Red Willow County School District 0017.
Regular Agenda:
• Ordinance No. 2024-3082: Authorizes the issuance of Combined Utilities Revenue Bonds up to $9 million for improvements to the City’s combined utilities, including the sewer system improvement project. The Council may vote to suspend the required reading on three separate occasions.
• Ordinance No. 2024-3083: Authorizes the issuance of Combined Utilities Revenue Bond Anticipation Notes up to $8 million for utility improvements’ construction costs, to be repaid with USDA financing or other long-term obligations. The Council may vote to suspend the required reading on three separate occasions.
• Ordinance No. 2024-3084: Authorizes the issuance of Municipal Improvement Bond Anticipation Notes up to $5 million for ballpark facilities and other voter-approved improvements. The Council may vote to suspend the rule requiring reading on three occasions.
• Presentation from Erica Bush (WCNDD): Discuss properties violating McCook’s Code of Ordinances.
• Resolution No. 2024-13: Approves the designation of nuisance properties identified by WCNDD and declared in the Resolution.
• Discussion: Considers increasing the City of McCook’s lease payment from NPPD by 0.5%.
• Ordinance No. 2024-3080: Amends the City of McCook’s Code of Ordinances by adding Chapter 75, covering traffic regulations. The Council may consider approval upon the first reading.
• Ordinance No. 2024-3081: Amends Section 95.35 regarding Weeds, Litter, and Stagnant Water by adding provisions for specific nuisances listed in Section 95.02 of the McCook Code of Ordinances. The Council may consider approval upon the first reading.
An executive session may be held to discuss real estate purchases for the Sports Complex to protect the public interest, with action expected to be taken.
Another executive session may discuss collective bargaining concerning the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 574. Resolution No. 2024-12 ratifies the Collective Bargaining Agreement between the City McCook and the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 57, covering the period from October 1, 2024, to September 30, 2025. The Mayor is authorized to sign this agreement.
