MNB Seniors salvage 2-2 weekend; host Holdrege Wednesday
HASTINGS, Neb. — McCook National Bank’s 16-3 win over Overton on Sunday finished a 2-2 weekend for the Senior Legion baseball team.
Coach Chris Conroy’s team (3-3 overall) saw virtually everyone hit safely in the finale after taking a 15-0 loss to Grand Island Home Federal and 14-3 against Norris on Saturday.
Norris just won the Class B high school baseball title while GI Home Federal features many Class A Grand Island players.
MNB rebounded on Sunday with Trenton Raile, Noah Mashek and Ollie Corbett pitching them to victory.
The Seniors also won a 2-1 thriller on Friday against Grand Island USave as Miles Pollmann pitched four solid innings. Mashek reached base and scored a crucial run for the McCook team.
“Now we face a bunch of league teams,” Conroy said.
The Seniors will visit Ogallala tonight before playing their opener on Wednesday against Holdrege at the Jaycees Complex. First pitch is se† for 8 p.m.
On Thursday, MNB hosts the Gothenburg Melons for another 8 p.m. contest then Kearney arrives to play a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
No details were obtained about the McCook Juniors’ weekend.
