NORTH PLATTE, Neb. — Nebraska officials launched the "6 Regions, One Nebraska" initiative today in North Platte, aiming to boost economic development through collaborative projects across the state's six community college districts.

Gov. Jim Pillen emphasized the need for unity to drive progress, with $3 million allocated from the American Rescue Plan Act to fund the effort. The initiative seeks to address various areas such as resident recruitment, youth engagement, entrepreneurship, technology, and infrastructure, with each region identifying its strengths and opportunities for growth.

Pillen plans to meet biannually with regional teams to guide decision-making, while emphasizing a data-driven and action-oriented approach.

The initiative aims to foster a culture of cooperation among communities to advance economic development in Nebraska.

Today's kickoff meeting, hosted by Mid-Plains Community College, highlighted the importance of partnerships between educational institutions, businesses, and civic leaders in shaping the state's future workforce and opportunities.
