Bison, other area wrestlers win JV championships at McCook

McCook's Layton Carpenter won the 215-pound championship in a JV wrestling tournament at McCook High on Thursday.

McCOOK, Neb. — All the McCook Bison and area top three placers in Thursday’s McCook JV Wrestling Open.

No team scores were recorded with 14 competing at McCook High.

113: Champion — Ethan Boner, MC. He won 14-3 over I. Lopez, Lexington; pinned Lopez in 1:04.

120: Wyatt Benes, MC, placed third. He pinned J. Lopez, Lexington, in 5:15; was pinned by A. Burns, North Platte, in 3:28; won 8-2 over Jackson Cyboron, Chase County.

126: Champion — Chase Hamilton, Southern Valley. He pinned J. Kackmeister, NP, in 3:15; pinned M. Harwager, N.P., in 1:26.

132 — Jack Siegfried, MC, placed second. He pinned T. Kemp, North Platte St. Pat’s, in 1:32; won 6-2 over I. Plunk, North Platte; lost 8-7 to B. Withington, Colby, Kan.

138: Spencer Kelley, Chase County, placed third. He was pinned by J. Melaria, Lexington, in 3:26; pinned by K. Mollendor, Colby, in :36; and pinned Melaria in 1:09.
