Family sentenced for election falsification
SCHUYLER, Neb. — The final of three members of a family has been sentenced for voting in Colfax County while living in Platte County during the 2020 general election.
Wednesday, Larry Divis was fined $10,000 and sentenced by Judge Christina M. Marroquin following his conviction by a jury for Election Falsification, a Class IV Felony. The conviction stems from a two-day jury trial in August, held in Colfax County District Court.
The case was a result of a Nebraska State Patrol investigation into three individuals who registered to vote and cast their ballots in Colfax County, Nebraska, during the 2020 General Election while actually residing in Platte County, Nebraska.
The two other individuals involved in the case, Larry Divis' son, Jason Divis, and daughter-in-law, Carina Divis, received sentences of 1 year of probation each.
Carina Divis' sentence followed a one-day bench trial in July, while Jason Divis agreed to a plea of no contest to the charge.
