MNB likely meeting Melons when B-6 arrives in McCook

McCOOK, Neb. — McCook Legion Post 203 representative Greg Larson provided these expected matchups to start the B-6 Seniors Legion baseball tournament.

On Friday, Minden and Broken Bow begin this double-elimination event at 11 a.m.

Ogallala will tangle with Holdrege starting around 2 p.m.

The host McCook National Bank Seniors then face Gothenburg’s Melons for a 5 p.m. first-round finale.

All games will be played at the McCook Jaycees Complex.

Another tripleheader on Saturday will again have 11 a.m., 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. start times.

Weather permitting, another two games will be played on Sunday at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Remaining teams will start at 6 p.m. and first pitch for the championship finale features a 5:30 p.m. first pitch on Tuesday.

The B-6 area champion advances to Class B state tournament play inPierce starting July 28.

MNB Seniors (13-11 record split the Melon meetings earlier this season, winning 7-3 on May 31 but dropping the 7-6 rematch three weeks later in G-Burg.

Bryson Gullion was doubles trouble as he beted two extra-base hits during that MNB victory.

Tristan Campbell batted in two runs while Brody Graham, Quentin Terry, Carter Larson and Trenton Raile each drove home one.

Gabe Roberts pitched 4 1/3 strong innings, allowing only one earned run.

Gothenburg ruled the June 22 meeting even though Campbell singled, doubled and drove home three more runs.

Gullion and Roberts each added two hits with two runs scored apiece.
