Motor grader, budget workshop on county agenda

Friday, July 7, 2023

McCOOK, Neb. — District 1 County Commissioner Ted Gans and District 3 Commissioner Charles Fritsche will get their first shot at the annual budget beginning Monday morning with the help of veteran District 2 Commissioner Randy Dean.

A budget workshop is the last item on the agenda for the meeting, which begins at 9 a.m. in the commissioners’ room at the courthouse.

Before that, however, they hope to make a decision on the purchase of a motor grader. That issue was tabled after questions were raised as to which of the county’s graders should be traded in — an older one or a newer one with more hours.

They will also act as a board of equalization to conduct a public hearing on new property tax exemptions and consider the assessor’s recommendations before making decisions.

Other items include an annual report on the McCook Economic Development Corp. and modification of a redevelopment plan and declaration of an area as blighted and substandard to enable tax increment financing.
