MCC golfers in top two at Texas tourney as play resumes
DALLAS, Texas – The McCook Community College golf team started the second half of the season Monday at the 4-HIM Classic at Luna Vista and are in second place after 36 rounds of golf.
MCC trails the hosts, Central Christian College (Texas) by two shots. Jacksonville College (Texas) is in third place seven shots back of MCC, followed by Ottawa University (Kan.), Lyon College (Ark.) and Coffeyville Community College (Kan.).
After shooting a first-round 315, MCC was five shots out of the lead before the second round.
“On the first 18 holes today, we looked like a team with a lot of rust which I expected but it took a little too long to shake it off,” said MCC Coach Tyler Loop. “We gave away a lot of shots and just didn’t seem comfortable on very many shots.”
MCC came back to post the low round of the day with a 302 in the second round and trail the host school heading into the third round today.
Sophomore Cayden Wynne (Lincoln) and freshman Cade Cryer (Durban, KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa) posted the low MCC scores after two rounds at 152. They are tied for sixth place in the individual honors.
