Man in custody after standoff

LYONS, Neb. — A 61-year-old man is is in the Burt County Jail after being taken into custody by the Nebraska State Patrol SWAT team following a standoff.

The man Chris Garrett, was arrested for making terroristic threats and additional charges are pending with the Burt County Sheriff’s Office.

At about 5:20 p.m. Saturday, the NSP was called to a house in Lyons where an armed man was barricaded following a domestic disturbance. The SWAT team was activated after hours of attempting to negotiate with the subject. At about midnight, the SWAT team made entry and was able to apprehend the subject without further incident.
