McCOOK, Neb. — Cozad was only whistled for two second-half fouls which helped hold McCook to 17 second-half points in a Haymaker 53-47 win on those Bison boys' Senior Night at MHS.

Senior Evan Humphrey scored 11 in the first quarter for an early 13-5 lead, but those relentless Haymakers caught McCook 13-13 before that period was finished.

Coda took a 32-30 lead into halftime, then added six straight points before McCook scored again midway through quarter three.

McCook senior Adam Dugger drove inside and moved out for 10 points in his first home game this basketball season. Dugger stepped up to hit two three-points during a 13-5 Bison start before those visiting Haymakers rallied. He just returned last week after breaking a bone in his leg during the state football playoffs on Oct. 28.

Humphrey's 19 points along with 20 between classmates Adam Dugger and Jacob Gomez-Wilson (10 each) kept the Bison within striking distance.

McCook closed within 38-37 yet — again — the 16-7 Haymakers roared for six unanswered points to lead 44-37.

The Bison (13-9 record) never drew within one basket following that Cozad surge.

McCook senior Jacob Gomez-Wilson shows the intense defense that held Cozad to 21 second-half points Friday night. Unfortunately, the Bison only scored 17 after intermission of this 53-47 loss on Senior Night.
