TRENTON, Neb. — Dundy County-Stratton restored some Tiger supremacy with the boys’ 57-38 win over Hitchcock County on Tuesday.

Junior Jackson Kerchal added 22 points to his 20.9 scoring average while senior Andrew Englot lit up from outscore for another 16.

The Tigers (9-2 record) rattled off eight straight to break open an early 9-7 contest.

Kerchal powered in 10 during a 22-11 second quarter for the 39-18 DC-S halftime lead.

The Falcons have still won seven of 10 despite their limited pre-season practices.

“We knew going in that they have some great players in (Trent) Kisker, (Drew) Scott and (Keynan) Gaston, but I think we really took advantage of our quickness at the end of the half,” coach Kris Freeland explained. “That is how our press works we can get it back in bunches.”

Freshman Lane Bybee delivered five of his seven points following the mid-game break.

Senior Alex Englot added six points, Ethan Latta four and senior Corbin Horner two.

Latta made eight steals to spark that Tiger press.

Kisker and Unrein totaled 12 points each to lead the Falcons.

“ Our boys are playing well and hopefully get nothing but better from here,” Freeland said.
