HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — We are sad to announce the passing of Ronald W. Roth, 80, of Huntington Beach on Aug. 7, 2022 due to complications from Alzheimer’s.

Ron was born in Trenton, Neb., on Aug. 25, 1941, and spent his first 12 years in McCook, Neb., before moving with his family to California. He attended Mount Carmel Catholic High School in Los Angeles, lettering in track as a sprinter, anchoring the 4x100 for the school, and succeeding academically. He attended El Camino Jr. College in Torrance and Long Beach State, receiving a Bachelor’s degree in business. Ron had a long, accomplished career in human resources. He helped raise his six kids, modeling responsibility and hard work, and was a grandfather to 16. In his spare time he enjoyed traveling in his motorhome to see much of the western United States and visiting family in McCook and the Denver, Colo., area. He also enjoyed refereeing soccer games, listening to country music, square dancing, clogging, riding Wave Runners, vacationing at the lake and complaining about his favorite sports teams.

After retiring, Ron spent many years volunteering with the Huntington Beach Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), and even served as their president for three years. He could also be found clogging with the Apple Blossom Cloggers, singing in the choir and volunteering as a minister of the Eucharist at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church where he was a long-time member. Ron found pleasure in spending time with his kids and many grandkids. As his Alzheimer’s journey progressed, he loved long car drives and singing along with his favorite songs and hymns.

He was preceded in death by his father, John Roth and his mother, Katherine Roth. Ron has left behind his son, Richard Roth and his wife, Carie and their children, Bryan, Katelyn, Matthew and his wife, Taylor; daughters, Ronda Roth Herman and her children, Lauren, Nicholas and Victoria; daughter, Renee Roth-Neglia, her husband, John and their children, Liam, Erin and Katheryn; son, Ryan Roth, his partner Caroline Cua, and his children, Jacob and Alexis; son, Russell Roth, his wife, Cori and their children, Jayda, Lilly and Macey; and son, Robert Roth and his children, Thomas and Dexter; as well as his sister, Sharon Trenka and her kids, David and Karen and their families; sister, Patti Kopang, her husband, Craig and their kids, Krystal, Amanda, Marie, Casandra and Quinton and their families.

A vigil will be held for Ron on Saturday, Sept. 3 at 1 p.m. at St. Bonaventure Catholic Church, 16400 Springdale Ave., Huntington Beach, CA 92649. The memorial service will follow at 2 p.m., and a reception will be held immediately following the service in the church hall.
