Supreme Court connection
The Nebraska Supreme Court held a session at McCook High School Thursday morning, with one of the judges, Judge Stephanie Stacy, visiting the MHS Wall of Fame and the plaque honoring her late father, Lawrence (Larry) Frazier, Class of 1955. Stacy’s parents both graduated from MHS (her mother, Anabeth Hormel Cox, graduated in 1957) and lived in McCook briefly, before moving to Lincoln, Neb. She told students she remembered attending North Ward Elementary, now McCook Elementary, as a young child. The Nebraska Supreme Court heard two oral arguments at MHS to mark Law Day 2022 and took questions from students afterward. The full court annually visits three high schools in the state through the court’s Outreach program, to raise awareness of court processes and the importance of civics education in society.
