Rawlins girls, Falcons roar to top of annual Atwood meet

ATWOOD, Kan. — Hitchcock County’s boys featured many multiple event champions during a dominant team title at the Rawlins County Invitational on Friday.

Keegan Shuler, Drew Scott, Colten Hagan and Braydn Hutto powered the falcons to more than 200 points along with a victory by 85 over nearest contender Oakley, Kan.

Team scores, all champions and Gazette-area top four placers.

Hitchcock County high jumpers were clearing the bar enough to take a 1-2 finish at Friday’s Rawlins County Invitational in Atwood, Kan. Colten Hagan cleared two inches higher than teammate Jaxon Unrein as the Falcons tallied 211 points.

The Rawlins County girls roared to second place among seven teams at their annual track and field invitational on Friday.

Michaela Rippe took home four event titles as she won the 100-meter dash then joined two champion Rawlins relays.

Freshman Reece Smith and Taten Dewey ran on both winning quarters along with strong new force Nichole Chumley.

Rippe also cleared the best mark among all long jumpers on Friday.

The Buffaloes outscored five other teams while placing behind only champion Oakley, Kan.

Senior Aimee Merrill and Chayse Keith won races for Hitchcock County.
