Commissioners pay big bills, put out bids for generator

McCOOK, Neb. — A routine bill was much larger than usual when Red Willow County Commissioners approved it Monday.

The consent agenda included accounts payable of $490,977.61, but about $213,000 of that was for a motor grader purchased in October and recently delivered. Another large portion of the week’s bills went toward the county’s self-insurance for health care.

The board also set 10 a.m. March 28 as the time to open bids for an emergency generator serving the county health department at the fairgrounds.

Other items in the consent agenda included letters to the Jail Standards Board and Prochaska & Associates regarding jail remodeling, approval of county court surplus office equipment, and a letter to the Village of Bartley regarding zoning.

The board also received a letter about work planned for U.S 83 south of Lake Maloney near North Platte, as well as a letter from the Nebraska Commission on Law Enforcement announcing a jail inspection set for March 24.
