McCook boys expect best shot from Lex as B-7 begins
McCOOK, Neb. — McCook High’s boys begin B-7 subdistrict play at 6 p.m. tonight knowing not to expect a repeat of their 40-point win over Lexington last month.
“Lexington has been playing their best ball of the season as of late. The last time we played them we shot exceptionally well and Lexington didn’t,” Bison coach Joe Imus observed. “We are expecting a much more competitive game this time around.
No. 2 Grand Island Northwest and No. 3 Hastings play tonight’s second B-7 semifinal in the McCook High gym.
Both teams are below .500 but those records could be deceptive, Imus said. Winners from tonight’s action will play the title game on Wednesday at 7:40 p.m.
“Hastings and GINW have both played brutal schedules. They are both a lot better than their records indicate,” Imus concluded. “We have done enough to secure a spot in Saturday’s district final, but the other three in our district have to win to get in, so we know they are all in survival mode and we expect everyone’s best shot.”
