Indians approaching MHS for Friday hoops rematches
McCOOK, Neb. — The girls went to overtime while one basket decided last week’s boys game.
No wonder the Ogallala-McCook hoops doubleheader at McCook Friday night should be one worth watching.
The Bison boys (14-5) were leading 56-51 through quarters of their Southwest Conference semifinal Friday night before Ogallala escaped with a 73-71 win.
Those Indians easily finished a third straight SWC tourney title, but now face the toughest challenger again Friday.
McCook will try to limit sharpshooter Jeron Gager after he lit up the nets with 26 points. Corbin Murphy scored another 18 to help the Indians reach their 15th of 16 wins so far this season (16-3 overall).
Meanwhile, the Bison girls (9-9 record) shook off a 14-7 Ogallala start to last week’s SWC consolation game.
Senior Peyton Doucet delivered her varsity-best 25 points while McCook made 23 free throws to help complete a 53-45 overtime victory.
Ogallala (5-13) will certainly targeting payback when the teams tip off at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
