Falcons, Longhorn wrestlers win Chase County Invite titles

Wauneta-Palisade's Conner Bryner puts a strong hold on Hitchcock County foe Kolyn Gaston in Saturday's Chase County Invitational. However, Gaston turned this predicament into victory and eventually a 170-pound championship.

170 pounds — Kolyn Gaston, HC (22-6) won the championship. He pinned Brient Wood, PERK (12-9) in 5:00; won 11-6 over Conner Bryner, W-P (24-8); and pinned Kolby Houchin, Bayard (27-7) in 3:34.

195 — Keegan Shuler, HC (22-2) won the championship. He pinned Klayton Rinne, DC-S (4-13), in :34; pinned Cody Holmes, W-P (4-6), in 2:58; won 11-4 over Michael Morgan, Morrill (9-5); and pinned Zach Tarin, CC (18-11), in :39. Tarin placed third. He pinned Holmes in 2:31; pinned Rinne in 2:00. Holmes placed fourth. He pinned Rinne in 1:00.

220 — Jaret Peterson, CC (25-3) won the championship. He pinned Issiah Dunn, PERK (1-17) in 1:33; pinned Cole Hamilton, W-P (2-7) in 1:36; and won 7-2 over Austin Meyer, PERK (16-7). Hamilton placed third. He pinned Dunn in 1:45.

182 — Thomas Reeves, CC (17-10), placed second. He pinned Christopher Gaul, Bayard (3-9), in 1:15; pinned Grant Statz, SC, in 1:26; and pinned Blake Emig, DC-S (3-4) in :35.
