BROKEN BOW, Neb. — Both the Broken Bow Indians and McCook junior Shawna Wilkinson hit season-high point totals Tuesday night.

Yet a few too many Bison miscues helped those Bow girls celebrate their 68-42 victory to tip off basketball in 2022.

“We turned the ball over too many times which gave Broken Bow too many extra shots,” coach Amy Scheil observed. “We also gave bow too many second chance points. We also sagged in on the post too much which gave too many open three-point shots.”

The Bison (6-5) still only trailed 15-11 through one quarter. Wilkinson began an excellent offensive night where she hit nine of 13 two-pointers.

Senior Peyton Doucet also made her only shot from three-point range.

Though senior teammate Ainsley Taylor hustled for six steals, the Indians (7-2) delivered their highest point total so far this season. It was also McCook’s most allowed in 11 games.

We have some things we need to work on,” Scheil concluded. “But I really feel our girls have the potential to adapt to the adversity of the last couple of games and learn and become better.” The Bison visit Gothenburg on Friday.
