Trotting into the holidays with another great race

McCOOK, Neb. — To kick off the holiday season, more than 40 runners and walkers took to the McCook walking trail as part of Community Hospital’s Turkey Trot on Saturday.

McCook High School cross country standout Sammy Rodewald let the field, finishing the 5K in 20:39. Close on her heels was David Junker with a time of 20:45 to claim the men’s title.

The next and final race of the season is the Reindeer Run on Saturday, Dec. 11 at Barnett Park.

Packet pickup and race-day registration begins at 10 a.m. with the race starting at 11 a.m.

The course covers nearly every type of terrain from gravel to dirt, paved to grass.
