Longhorns outlast powerful Mitchell in five-set final

IMPERIAL, Neb. — Junior Bryn McNair blasted 27 kills and Chase County needed every point to fight off Mitchell Tigers in Tuesday's Class C-1 subdistrict title match.

The Longhorns will take a 26-4 record into Saturday's district finals against an opponent to be announced.

Junior Giselle Acuna's eight stuff blocks led 20 total for the Longhorns as freshman Landree McNair and senior Jerzee Milner added three apiece. Milner delivered 46 assists during the 23-25, 25-17, 25-18, 20-25, 15-9 Longhorn victory.

Acuna also drilled 12 kills while Landree McNair, Milner and junior Joee Clevenger crushed five each.

The host Longhorns overcame 30 kills from Mitchell senior Macey Bosard.

Mitchell slipped to 26-5 but will likely play a district final on Saturday.
