ARAPAHOE, Neb. — Verna Raye Horton, 81, of Arapahoe, passed away on Aug. 4, 2021, at the C.A. Mues Good Samaritan Center in Arapahoe.

She was born near Arapahoe to Eli and Ethel Elizabeth (Scott) Brown. She married Clifford Houser on Nov. 24, 1957 and they later divorced. She married Dan Horton on May 12, 1991.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dan; sisters, Vera Faye, Arliss (Norman) Kinder, Janice (Bill) Harrington; and infant daughter, Susan Lee.

She is survived by children Cliff Jr. (Sharon) Houser of Eustis, Neb., Michael (Sonja) Houser of Elwood, Neb., Marjorie (Howard) Richard of Edmond, Kan., Douglas Houser of Cambridge, Neb., Angie (Sam) Castro of Greeley, Colo., and Dr. Terry (Amanda) Houser of Slater, Iowa; 24 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren; and other family members.

Visitation is Friday, Aug. 6, 2021, 5-7 p.m., at Wenburg Funeral Home, Arapahoe. Funeral services are Saturday, Aug. 7, 2021, at 1 p.m., at First United Methodist Church in Arapahoe with the Rev. Nathan Goshert officiating. Interment is at Arapahoe Cemetery at Arapahoe.
